No that is simplistic; understanding the mortaliteit rate and the statistics is extremely important now to decide on testing methods and approach towards the general public. If those reported numbers are not correct, the health care professionals as virologists and CDC can't give accurate advice.

I am being simplistic because we KNOW the numbers are incorrect , the virologists & scientists know the numbers are incorrect, the governments know the numbers are incorrect...
In essence govts, globally have been sideswiped by something that has been predicted/foreseen for several years.
Specialists said it was a When not If scenario.& yet govts have all still been caught with their pants down.
When the virus is popping up on barely inhabited islands , yet large countries with lots of international travel are showing barely anything- then we know the numbers are wrong.

I have to agree with you.
I still have no clue what is being done in my area.
there has been no info from our village head, just a car going round with speakers calling out distorted messages that I couldn't decipher, hubby couldn't either.
So I am treating it as if everyone around us is contaminated and taking relevant precautions.

That's essentially preventing people from mudik. Doesn't bode well...

The unions are seriously considering demonstrations to demand the full THR (the 'Lebaran' bonus) and full wages since some employers seem to (want to) lower the amount.

I'm not pro-labor or pro-business, but I heard Kapolri banning mass gatherings, so how can they demonstrate unless it's illegal? In reality, many SMEs are running low on cash, bankruptcy is inevitable if this drags on. Big corporations can issue bonds like the government is suggesting. But no suggestion on how to help the small businesses.

Unfortunately I can't help but believe the news article contained within this quote. The government leadership has done far to little and next to nothing to prevent an explosion of this virus in the fear they may offend some! Sadly I don't see it getting better anytime soon!
