Moving to a new place, what does Imigrasi need from me?

I was under the assumption that I needed a surat domisile (sp?) which is written by the RT and then brought to kantor imigrasi along with some other paperwork (they hate trees). I moved for the 6th time within Indonesia and have only notified Immigration for one of the moves.

The RT i have now is brand spanking new from what I understand. We're trying to get our helper a passport and the RT wouldn't write a letter of domicile so she could get her passport from Kantor Imigrasi Tangerang. They ended up going to the Kelurahan to get this letter and voila, it worked. So I decided, what the heck... lets try this... we went to the kelurahan (where the guy asked for 100ribu to figure out our situation) yesterday, and today he wasn't there but we spoke with the lurah which said that they're not able to write surat domisile ever since the new e-ktp came out.

Am I missing something? Do I need a surat domisile? I'm tempted to start my kitap process, although i need to fix my family's KK as my child is apparently a muslim now (and now i need to provide additional proof that she's a christian because it's so damned important...because she's 2 years old). I suppose i could try for the KITAP conversion and just resolve whatever comes up along the way, right? That's what i usually do...

Are you still within the jurisdiction of the same KanIm? If so, you don't need anything other than filling out a form letting them know your new address.

YEah same kantor imigrasi. hahahahahahaa wow, ok cool. When i was living in Gading Serpong, my RT there wrote me up a letter stating that I did indeed live there so i guess thats where i got mixed up.

No wonder they seemed confused...because i don't know what i'm doing apparently. >.<

Thanks dafluff. I'm just gathering the strength and courage to deal with my amazing KITAP run. Tangerang-Serang-Jakarta yayyyy! If only the government talked to itself, this process would be easier (maybe not).

Good luck OomBen, let us know how it turns out!
