How long have you been away from home?

@Imagem : He's currently too young of course but quite some schools and colleges in Europe offer summer programs. And many of them also have scholarships, even specifically for Indonesians. Some even cover all related costs...

So that is something to perhaps keep in the back of your head. It might give him the chance to go somewhere in the future...

Very interesting information for mix parents having children from Indonesia, thanks a lot for posting this

In my case I always say I have two homes, my heart is totally divided between my country in Europe and Indonesia. We go to Europe, every two years, the three of us, not possible to make it every year because it is too expensive.
I am female and have strong connections with my family and friends, and I have a need to go out of Indonesia and back to my own country, see my family, catch up with all of them, see my friends, catch up with them, speak in my own language, eat the food (we usually are very lucky to be invite by family and friends and they prepare amazing special food for us, even they try spicy food for my husband, amazing how you appreciate things and food when you don't have it every day. they love to see my face each time I am eating something!), do medical check ups, relax and breathe, watch TV even when is pretty bad these days.......... although even for two or three months every two years I enjoyed so much and I love to go there, if I could afford it I would be very happy going there every year and stay probably maximum around 3 or 4 months.
I haven't seen an autumn for almost 20 years and I miss it, or the spring, or the snow (probably see the snow and play with it for two weeks or three maximum could be enough), I love hot weather and I am not strong any more with cold weather.
One of the things I miss the most when I am there is the beautiful smiles of Indonesian people, so much contrast even arriving at the airport, you realize very soon you are in another country.
I think connections with family and friends from your own country can be very important, and probably been a female outside of your own country as well is different than been a male, usually woman has more strong connections with family and friends and need them.

I can loan you some snow. We have more that we can ever use.

It's a bit like owning a Ferrari; you couldn't afford it when you needed it most. And later...

If you wait too long in your life with 'going home' and spending time on the (multiple) locations you love, you can't do it anymore because of physical limitations etc. Of course I understand the financial constraints.

wowwwwwwwww so beautiful photo waarmstrong! I wouldn't mind to spend even one month (maybe not more than that) at the small house on the right ride of the photo, it is really beauty, like I could spend hours looking at the rice fields or jungle view here in Indonesia, I am curious, do you have a chimney?
I could send you some rain and hot weather, although I confess I love rain in a tropical country.

Wisnu, thanks for the lovely photos, I was about to ask waamrstrong if he had the photo with the snow on autumn time!
Here in Indonesia is like to have a 12 month lovely summer, which I love but still missing the autumn and the amazing colour of the leaves and the beauty of the snow. The photo of the autumn is really beautiful. Thanks for posting both of you

The Small house on the right is the garage. Might be a bit rustic in with the vehicles for a month or or two. Perhaps we could work out a swap for a time during our visit to Jakarta. Unfortunately that is in the Summer during school break. Our Fall foliage cannot hold a candle to Winsu's colorful photo. I have a Spring shot somewhere; if I can find it I will post it.

Awesome pictures Wisnu. The fall picture is my favorite!

.
Yeah I love going 'home' in autumn. Well, if we're lucky and it doesn't rain and storm.

This was 2017, the north eastern part of The Netherlands....

I remember collecting these mushrooms when I was a kid. You see them less and less (no, it seems not to be related to the collecting, they grow in fact underground).

Long time no see around these parts! Hope life is treating you well state side!

Hot damn! After all these years, I've only just realized what tihzo mean!

LOL, yes read TIHZHO in a mirror!

I'm going to see about getting TIHZHO for my NY plates for my car next year! I do feel this would be the perfect plate for cops, because when you hear the siren and see the lights what's the first thing you say / think? haha
