Hello expats in Bandung

Hi all,

I'm from the Netherlands and I live around 7 years in Bandung with my wife and two childeren. Until now I didn't found many expats other then the occasional bule in the street. So I'm curious if there are many expats in Bandung and where they like to hang out or if there are any activities?

Hi Patrick,

I live and work a few hours south of Bandung. I’ve been here for the last 6 years.

There’s a load of bules in KBP I believe. Or at least was when I was house hunting there pre COVID times.

There is a lot of the center of Bandung that own decent restaurants, cafes or pizza/burger joints too.

Thanks...the 7 year itch more or less feels like something I already heard about. Didn't know about the Joseph Effect though. Thanks for sharing some knowledge

Before the Japanese invaded, the Dutch were planning to move the capital from Batavia to Bandoeng, certain ministries did already move. Obviously they wanted to get out of the humid swamp.

Technically I am in Bandung but not an 'expat' any longer. Actually, I am only in Bandung at weekends nowadays... holed up in my house dodging the hoards & being super-antisocial (because there is so much noise in my life mon to Fri)
So, I am pretty useless re gatherings etc.
I guess if you hang out in Dago or Braga you will likely find some kicking about.

I’ve lived in Bandung almost 11 years. Switching between our US house and Bandung at times.

Never been into looking for other bules, but of course know some of them.

Hi Patrick

as from May I'll be living long term in the center of Bandung. Not an expat but rather a very early retiree.

If you're a Billard Player we could hang out at Siliwangi's Billard and Bowling center or once a wile going around the braga / riau area for a beer.

Just inbox me, I'm in the process of relocating at the moment and quite busy at the time.
