What a dummy.... I feel a little bit of pity, mainly for him being so stupid.

Frenchman Anthony Lambert has been sentenced to five years in a Bali prison for drug possession.

The 23-year-old French student was found guilty of bringing marijuana into Indonesia from Malaysia in Denpasar District Court on Tuesday.

Lambert was arrested in June after arriving at the island’s Ngurah Rai International Airport from Kuala Lumpur with 14 grams of marijuana.

“The defendant is found guilty of importing drugs, marijuana type, with a penalty of five years imprisonment and a fine of IDR1 billion (US$73,894). If unable to pay the fine, then he must serve an additional three months in prison,” Judge Made Pasek said in court on Tuesday, as quoted by Tribun Bali.

As a parent of a son in a similar age range, I think I feel sorry for his parents. They must be horrified and heartbroken.

The Frenchman had brought the marijuana for his own use to “ease his pain” after undergoing a divorce, claims the attorney.

Divorced and imprisoned by twenty three years of age. I guess he's young enough and the sentence short enough that he can rebuild his life by the time he gets out. And if he's sentenced to serve in Kerobokan it's not as bad as it could be. Silly boy.

Guess they need to announce on the plane in French about bring drugs into Indonesia. Like they do in English.

The thing that never ceases to amaze me is why some people are just so dumb. Indonesia is renowned for the execution of drug smugglers and if you haven't heard about the numerous cases in the media, I am sure that the death penalty warning on the immigration card and the huge sign above the immigration hall stating "death penalty for drug traffickers" could be cause to think perhaps it isn't the best of ideas.
Whatever your stance is on smoking weed :hippie:the irony is that Bali is awash with it and it aint coming in through the airport, and bules aren't involved in its transport, distribution or sales. Whilst this will be paraded as yet another victory in the war on drugs by the authorities I really feel that they should perhaps concentrate on the much bigger threat of shabu2 (meth amphetamine) which is spreading like wildfire and poses a real serious threat to the whole country.

I feel sorry for the kid, who is guilty of nothing much more than stupidity, and lets be honest at that age we were all guilty of it. Lets hope the right money falls into the right hands and he is deported and blacklisted.

Human beings are the oddest Creatures, I’ve seen a whole bunch of photos of the changing face a Meth users,it’s quite horrific, pretty girls turned into horrendous hags, why would they do that, Scoot is correct, there is a very big danger, the Indonesian drug agency doesn’t seem very effective, a lot of meth comes in through China, it’s big money and we all know what big money does here

Because that change never happens the first time.

or the second time.

or the third time.

and so on...

Even in villages in Indonesia, young people consume crystal meth. Distribution network works quite well.
