What are you all up to?
How you doing?
Been anywhere interesting lately?
Experienced any silly situations?
Just want to pop in & say hi, grab a cookie & run?

I am sat here with a cuppa and a box of discount M&S shortbread chocolate cookies- they will be out of date by Monday (hence the 70% discount) so I might have to force myself to eat them all or I'm happy to share them with you rabble :)
Hot water is over in the corner and the coffee, tea etc on the shelf: help yourself to a drink.

The week has been (enjoyably) crazy for us with us running around all over the city for gigs and jobs. So today was booked in as a rest at home day- however my young nephew and his dad came along and disrupted that haha- 4 yr olds don't work in to lazy slobby days well.
Then the phone has been ringing all the time. Hubby hasn't quite grabbed the concept of a MOBILE phone, as in it is down here on the desk and he is upstairs doing laundry , so it has been left to me to run up and down stairs every time someone called him. Not complaining though , cos as I said he is doing the laundry :D

The dogs have all had a bath day today and flea drops are about to be administered. We have a chicken still on her eggs and expect to see some baby chicks soon.
I am chasing a few leads in the music side of our life. It could get interesting real soon... or it could fizzle off to nothing- such is the nature of the game.

How are things going with you all?

Yesterday I poured myself a cup of sherry in a pewter cup, and almost swallowed a desiccated baby gecko carcass.

:puke: I was looking for a reason to use that emoticon... cheers for that Pusp hehehe.

Now here's a laugh, my Daughter has a Golden Retriever, it's not 9months old but he is huge, it's bigger than a full grown Retriever, she bought a new harness as he really pulls when you take him Walkies, so this morning as I'm dog sitting I decided to give it a go, first he chased a cat under a car, managed to pull him out, then unfortunately we then came across two cats feeding, off he went, down I went, I just couldn't hold him, two grazed knees, the security at D,diamond were very good the picked me up, my dog came back, unfortunately so did the bloody cats, off went Kenny again, down I go again, double gazed knees again, D,diamond security pick me up again, plus an elderly gentleman on a motor bike, they all bring me home much the worse for wear, but it appears the kindly old gentleman has a lady golden retriever and is very interested in my daughters dog and his lady dog get together, my wife is disgusted as such a thing, sadly poor old Kenny has no say as he was neutered some time back before we got him, the elderly gentleman is very disappointed, me I nursing too grazed knees and won't be taking Kenny walkies in a hurry again, Kenny doesn't give a shit he is in the garden eating the wife's flowers

Sorry, but:
:pound:

Hope your knees get well soon.
I clicker trained my Boxer : food & click , food & click , food & click... always gets his attention... then out on the lead with the clicker & if he pulled or let his attention wander, click... (not always with food- now he just pays attention to the click even when no food is on hand)
You don't have to use the clicker gadget you can just make an unusual sound that you keep just for walks / work with the dog.

Also- buy some kneepads & bulk shop for betadine hahahahaha

@ Anglian -

same as Bad_azz, I have to laugh, but I am also sorry about your knees and I hope you feel better soon.

I know what it feels like to be dragged by a dog - when I was just a little bitty girl I took our usually obedient standard poodle for walks. Usually she was extremely well behaved, but once she saw a rabbit or something and took off, toppling me and dragging me along. I guess I was wearing a halter top or something because my whole stomach was badly scraped up.

On Sunday I went to Prima Medika for a colonoscopy...for those unfamiliar this is where a specialist sticks a selfie camera, on a long flexible cable, all the way up one's rectum until you cough. They take flash pictures on the return leg of this trip to see if there is anything interesting to put into an album. If they see any skin blemishes, requiring some modification, they have a scissor-tool on the end of the cable which cuts it out. Blood then flushes the dissident down the channel to excrete into a pan. All very prim and proper.

The whole procedure needs preparation and there are two choices....

1. Is for masochists.
There is a kit which is a DIY preparation. This requires fasting for 12 hours...no cheating. It includes a laxative called phospho-soda (Fleet) which is taken with water at two intervals....you really need to be near a toilet after consumption. After the second dose it's better to stay in the toilet and sit there...this is potent stuff.
At the hospital they give a local injection in the bum and it kinda freezes. Then the whole process can be witnessed on a TV monitor....:yuck:

2. Is for wimps like me.
You check into the hospital's A/C private room with private toilet and TV the day before the colonoscopy. Pretty nurses take blood pressure, blood coagulating time, blood test, EKG, and serve the FLEET. During the night they are constantly attentive while your spouse sleeps in a comfy bed. In the morning they stick this hose up the bum and, using a pressure water-gun, flush out anything left that hasn't yet clogged up the sewers.
A quick trip to the surgery room finds very smiley guys in green uniforms...they stick a needle into the arm and, before you know, you are in dreamland, where butterflies and flowers and nice soothing music live...I wanted to take some of that medicine home.
Half-hour later they wake you up, "All done bapak!' offer a cup of tea and some porridge...then go home.

The pics are scrutenized by a specialist...in my case the surgeon that removed my colon tumor earlier this year...and a verdict given.

To my relief I'm cancer-free...:cheer2:

I had a colonoscopy a few years ago after going through a couple of bouts of not being able to snap one off for a few days & bad colon pain. Different prep than what you describe, I had to take a couple of horse pills & wasn't allowed to eat for 36 hours before. They gave us sandwiches & tea or coffee after the procedure, my God, I'd never been so hungry in my life & told the ladies at the canteen that their sandwiches were so good I was thinking of coming back to get another camera stuck up my ass just for the sandwiches afterward.

Everything came up clear & a couple of months later I figured my constipation was caused after eating pies or sausage rolls from a certain bakery, God knows what they put in their pastry but it set like gypsum in me.

I've had a few of them over the years- not my fave procedure but about 4th in line behind:
3rd- burning pre-cancerous cells out of my cervix- the smell of one's own flesh being BBQd isn't pleasant- turned me green,
2nd- having a compression bandage fitted to stem some abdominal bleeding following surgery - hurt so bad I couldn't scream, a muffled uhgh came out
but the one that takes the top of the pile is a steroid injection into the back of my patella - I vomited all over the doc.

Anyway Davita- I'm glad you are all in the clear & yep my colonoscopies were the barbaric drinking jugs n jugs of vanilla flavoured salt water until I was shiteing clear water out- not fun. Have watched on tv though- not had the zonk out drugs.

In recovery mode from spending 3 days in New Orleans. Stayed with friends in the Garden District with two other couples but spent most of our time in the French Quarter. By day, we would explore the art galleries and eat eat eat. Night time we would pop in a bar, have a drink, enjoy the music and move on to the next bar.

Fantastic city for food and drink, but I quickly realized that I can't party like I did when I was younger. Didn't take too many bars before I was ordering a Tonic water instead of a beer to go.

I had one where I had to drink a half gallon of disgusting stuff the night before the procedure. Had the most horrible butt squirts imaginable. Didn't quite make it to the bathroom once.

Not drinking Hurricanes?

Not drinking Hurricanes?

I leave that up to the wife. And she is such a light weight that it usually means an early end to the evening. And the glasses she always wants to keep as a souvenir never make the long trip home. Shards of glass in the suitcase. But bars, at least Pat O'Brien's will give a small refund if the glass is returned, so that now keeps us from trying to pack them.

Yeah, I have realized I have become a big wuss. It's a question of practice I guess.

We did a three months trip of the south east. Finally, pulled pork, bbq, crawfish, some good beers ....

I postponed & cancelled some of my own commitments today in support of the hubby who had 2 gigs in distant locations...
An hour before he is due to leave a message comes in to cancel one of the gigs because the drummer is sick. (Not his regular band- can't remember the last time that band cancelled anything at all- proper troopers)- so now I am stuck at home with a moody man.
He's not happy at all.

Anyway- I guess I can get around to doing some jobs in the house that have been on hold.

ooh our baby chicks have hatched/are hatching (hard to tell how many) - so a cute thing to add to the day

Ours too...

Pokemon is something I am blissfully clueless about & happy to remain so :D

Though I did buy the dog a cuddly toy & apparently it was some P character that ended up shredded... hehe.
Ours are real live breathing cheeping chicklets.

& I think they will be looking for new homes soon as they are able to be got rid of- they were a fail on the egg collector's part- said he felt sorry for the hen so left a few eggs with her... We have other plans for the chicken house... or we had.

But they are sooooooo cute.

update on the gigs- the cancelled one became uncancelled..and all is right in the world

Add some Brisket and Sweet Potato Pie combined with all the beers now available from the explosion of the micro breweries and I love eating in the South.

Spring trip will involve the Bourbon Trail tour in Kentucky. More to my taste in liquid refreshment. Already have 5 couples signed up and a few more maybes. Looking to rent a bus or large RV. Problem is finding a designated driver.
