The US is already getting back to the far right calling for a complete Muslim ban and the expulsions of Palestinians. Joe just gave bibi a message. Back off or lose support. Biden doesn't like Bibi and Bibi doesn't like Biden. Bibi does like trump and if he is influanced by him whatsoever, it could cause the gravest problems for Israel. Reporting lately is that American Jews are starting to turn to conservative media outlets because they don't like the pro Palestine coverage elsewhere. That or they don't want to admit to the war crimes being shown. So, they simply turn to the anti Muslim reporting. I really thought they were smarter than that.

While there is an intense desire for revenge amongst many Israelis and the Zionists who believe they are God's chosen with the right to take whatever Palestinian land they desire and to smite their enemies I suspect that Netanyahu is on the one hand appeasing this substantial element but is shrewd enough to realize that annihilating the Palestinians will not ultimately serve Israel's long term interests and that totally wiping out Hamas is not really achievable. I imagine there is a list of top Hamas strategists that must be dealt with but that done and when the numbers of Palestinian dead seem to somewhat negate the Israeli losses, the wily fox may see the opportunity to agree to a sudden ceasefire and apparently emerge as a humanitarian statesman achieving justice.

I really doubt Netanyahu will ever be regarded as a humanitarian statesman even by many within Israel. What number of innocent Palestinians killed negates the innocent Israelis killed? 10 to 1, 11, 12, 15 to 1? All this killing is only making Hamas stronger and anti Israeli sentiment stronger. Where us that going to get him?

Even if Israel succeeds in eradicating Hamas, if the oppression and injustice inflicted on the Palestinians does not stop, a new group will rise up in rebellion. I am sure Israel knows that very well.

Not long ago we had a discussion on this forum about how in the past evil western countries colonized other peoples and practiced apartheid. Israel deserves to be mentioned here as well. And that in 2023.

It strikes me as a little odd that you take any slightly negative statement agaist Isreal as wanting to kill Jews and you think that anyone who thinks Palestine may be mistreaded as a terrorist. I think it is fairly well known that Israel's stated policy is to inflict 10x the casualties on the Palestinians as a multiple of Israeli casualties in any terrorist attack. This is meant to act as a deterrent. i.e. if you kill 1,000 of ours, we kill 10,000 of yours.
In this case, Israel had 1,400 deaths, so Hamas would know they are sacrificing 14,000 Palestinian lives because of their attack. Not to mention deliberately putting weapons stores under hospitals etc. Also Israel has said there can be a ceasefire once hostages are returned and Hamas (the elected govt of Gaza) said no. So I guess for the time being it is just a stalemate, and the Israeli response continues while Hamas hides in tunnels watching its people get slaughtered. The battle for Western public opinion also continues.
