Cost of health insurance with Allianz?

This is a long shot but will ask anyways...does anybody have individual or individual/spouse health insurance with Allianz or know of anybody that does and what the cost is to include what major things are covered, i.e. hosp, surg etc. just to get an idea of what i might be looking at should i go down this road?

One of my close friends works for Allianz and is one of their top brokers. Would you like her number so she can give you some advice and free quote etc? Then you can ask directly. Shes very professional and isnt going to push you to buy a plan don't worry

Every policy is individual and depends on age and current health, smoker etc etc so best to ask for a quote and add what benefits and excess you want or need

Thank you snpark! Actually i already have an Allianz agent that is a friend of my wife's sister here. We took out a life insurance policy for me thru Allianz. I know i could easily ask her for a quote which i most likely will do. I just thought i might get a heads up on sticker shock ??? if someone else here was shelling out $$$ for healthcare insurance with them. I'm sure it's not cheap. I am a military retiree and had Tricare Prime medical insurance for $59 a month covering both me and wife in the U.S.A. Excellent insurance covering anything/everything and medical treatment facilities filed directly with them for reimbursement. The only thing I get now living here is Tricare Overseas coverage...meaning I pay up front and file for reimbursement. Thats fine until something major comes along. I don't pay anything for that coverage but I have it. Not sure what i should set aside for emergency fund just in case until I can afford health insurance coverage thru Allianz or whoever.
I cant draw Social Security for a few more years so I am doing this on a couple grand per month from military retirement. BPJS seems to be a thing of the past for foreignors who don't work from what I've read here. ? I would gladly pay for it though.

Yeh I was also a bit confused by that sentence also? BPJS is supposed to be a government subsidised health plan for poorer people not for rich foreign retirees to come here and milk the system?
And it's not free, we all have to pay for it and there is even a sliding scale of the monthly amount, the higher your position and taxes, the more you pay into it. And it only covers the absolute basics anyway. If you want a fancy vip room with tv you still have to pay extra

Honestly, I would shop around somewhat and contact an agent that offers solutions from multiple providers. I know most are exclusive but there are insurance brokers which have a bigger portfolio. Not to say they won't try to sell you the most profitable (for them) of course or they aim to get that free vacation if they meet a certain threshold.

There are other biggies -like Prudential and AXA- that might have solutions that even fit you better.

Let's take two examples: visiting the USA and pregnancy. Those included in your plan can be very costly and not relevant at all.

But no 2 quotes are ever the same. It depends on age, benefits, excess, any preexisting conditions etc etc. The important things to consider are speed of reimbursement or whether the provider is direct payment to the hospital or if you have to claim back. Like all things in life, the basics are the same but go for the one with the best customer service. Because that's where you will be dealing with the most.

It better be them (Insurance company) paying hospital direct. Filing claims is not my cup of tea! ? I would've forgot to ask them that had you not mentioned it...thank you very much! ☺

Now of course they all will say they have an automated claim system (à la VITAS) and will approve fast and pay within so many days.

But what I've seen now with NationWide in the U.K. now, beats everything (it concerns hospitalization costs which are covered by travel insurance). In September they -finally- approved the claim, that already took 6 months. Then they said they would pay within 5 days. Nothing yet.

The bad thing is also you can only reach them on a UK 0900 number and not via e-mail or so. Now I use Skype but give up after 1 hour each time. To be continued....

Some are direct billing and some are pay yourself and reclaim

But -esp. here- many hospitals and specialists don't participate in direct billing agreements or are limited to only a few companies, @snpark . Even in Western Europe a (large) hospital we visited, only had those arrangements in place with national health funds.

NB: At hospitals here, you see small logo's of the insurances they accept, on plastic stands at the loket.

Yes direct billing is ripe for corruption, suddenly hospitals charging $500 for a blood test etc, besides which most insurance would prefer you pay then you try and extract 0.0001% of it from your provider 18 months later
