According to this test a simple foreign licence permits driving for 12 months for any foreigner (I presume a non-resident Brit as well) visiting UK. It doesn't mention the need for an Internanional permit...

I don't recall the car hire companies now, I think it might have been Eurocar and enquired about car hire, they totally refused an Indonesian driving licence, I tried another company and they were quite happy with it, so I expect you may have to hunt around

In Australia and New Zealand they accepted my Uk licence but people with Indonesian driving licence need to have translation from the embassy over there?

That's good to know. One of the few cases where UK PLC is lenient.

I can confirm passport renewals done at Kun City Jakarta and process usually yes less than 7 days start to finish, the appointment is just to deliver the docs, payment by CC next day, they courier same day to UK, you get sms from DHL and you get your new passport quickly. Don't listen to them if they ask for your old one, you don't need to give it to them. BTW no UK staff interaction, just Indo's who can speak English working there, one queue for Brits, another for the rest. I have renewed / replaced several passports through VFS without any problems.

You need to take your old passport along when you submit the application, but you get to keep it while the new one is processing. However, you can't travel on it. You can only use it for identification purposes.

When you go to collect the new one, they'll void your old one by cutting one of the corners off.

All the information is very clearly stated on the site - including the forms to complete and what you need to do, you HAVE to go to the site to download the forms so it is pointless just asking here, you still need to go to the site yourself anyway

well if it is anything like my last renewal, you should get an email or text today or tomorrow with the dhl number saying it left indonesia and possibly even have your passport back within a week, they use dhl always. They also send you an email from UK with that dhl# too

That's assuming yours is a straightforward renewal, which really is the point of the "fully trained staff" (lol) in the mall who's job it is to make sure everything is in place BEFORE they send it.

But I certainly would not be worried and even with the Christmas holidays etc I would be very confident to have your PP back before the end of the year for sure

My wife took it to immigration. Wasn't too much trouble. I don't think there was a fee involved or it couldn't have been much as she didn't tell me.

There is no fee for it, just expectations, perhaps. It is up to you to reward a fast service or to ignore expectations if for any reason you believe that no special effort has been made.

my new passport arrived without drama. My brother in law picked it up for me (following required procedures) also without drama.
Next step for me is my final KITAP renewal. I'm just gonna do the passport transfer and kitap renewal in one step, though I expect a couple of trips to Immigrasi
Oh ya and SIM renewal. There's a mobile unit that you need to chase around town to renew. My wife's employee just did his. Took 10 min including a new photo

Unfortunately mobile unit can only process WNI SIM. Technology stops where procedures for foreigners start.
