Another silly bureaucratic hurdle from Indonesia

Is pot legal in the 50th state yet?

Not for recreational use. Technically it has been legal for medicinal use for several years, but various bureaucratic hitches related to quality control regulations meant that there were no pot dispensaries in state.

The reason I know this is that I am an avid listener to HPR, the local NPR affiliate, whenever I am in state. (Now we have a smart house, so all I have to do when I'm puttering in the kitchen is say, "Alexa, turn on HPR!" and voila, there it is.) They recently had a story on the first pot dispensary opening up.

I must admit that in my misspent youth I, er ... inhaled. But it has been decades since my last toke and I don't have any plans to take up this particular form of recreation again, legally or illegally. I'm such a wet blanket now that I'm old!

You don't have to just smoke it anymore. (I think I heard that on NPR.) I am wondering if gamelan withdrawal anxieties could constitute a medical necessity.

We must have a smart house here in Bali. My wife just says "Dave, turn on the Kardashians." and voila, there it is....then I put down the remote.
