Kitas to Kitap interview

Hi....I recently applied for a kitap and the immigration officer told us we will have two interviews at our house...one with immigration and the other with Kanwil. Does anyone have any experience of this.? I can’t find any information anywhere saying there are two interviews. We’ve had our first interview, and they told us to just wait for the other, but we want to go visit some family. How long do they expect me to just sit at home? The first interview was two weeks after I applied, and they just turned up with no phone call. I don’t want to miss it, but it’s a bit annoying i have to just sit at home everyday.

Only had one interview for my KITAP that was 10 years ago. Calling before they drop by? Oh my...yes!! They called me, 10 minutes before dropping by without having any regard of where I was..they just told me they were coming...glad I was actually at the immigrasi about 15 minutes away...

Different Immigration Offices handle home visits for KITAS differently. Some do, some do not. They will inform you if so.

When you apply they will let you know. As stated above all immigration offices are different. We were told we would get two visits, but so far only immigration have been to interview us. They came approximately two weeks after we applied, just turned up, not even a phone call, luckily we were in.!

Told by Immigration Jember that I "Might" get an interview from Kanwil but very unlikely as the Kanwil in S/East Java ,Jawa Timur is in Surabaya and I'm 7-8 hours south in Purwoharjo . Had the same with the first interview , rang from up the road 2 minutes away . Then wanted my wife to come home from work 2 hours away . Bloody annoying sitting waiting then they don't show which I went through with every KITAS renewal , not one home interview after telling me to stay home . Been just on 3 months and my KITAP /Alhi Status application has only gone to Kanwil 2 weeks ago after they called me in for the biometrics ,finger prints ,photos . They told me it could be another 1-2 months . So I'll have had no passport , can't go more than a few k's from home unless they do decide to come for the second interview for nearly 5 months when /if I finally get the KITAP . I've found the more you complain the more hoops they make you jump through . Just got to be patient and play them at there own game , keep ten steps ahead and have every possible letter, form , document you can think of in triplicate when they decide to throw a few more hoops in front of you .

May I know your immigration office if you don't mind?And after browsing thru internet I though we can get Kitas from c317 quickly about 4-5 days after lapor to immigration office.Problem with this home visit is I will have to go out often as I have urgent things to do and I can only stay for about 5-6 weeks maximum in Indonesia.

That's too much! Also months without passports and uncertainty.This makes me to rethink about my plan to apply for c317 as I only have 6 weeks in Jakarta.Don't know if there is enough time to get my kitas.Maybe I should use agent.Thanks si much for sharing !

6 weeks from zero to completion for KITAS I think is doable, but you are not allowing enough time for any mishaps, delays, additional doc requests, such and such head of dept not available for signature which can impact the next dept, etc. All those are very possible if not the daily norm in Indonesia....just my take.

Thank you for your comment. But this 6 weeks include 8 days quarantine.And after quarantine I have to get surat domisili from RT before going to immig office as I know this is the requirement apart from other docs.So very stressful now to decide either I should apply c317 or 211 business visa thru agent.

I did my c317 conversion to KITAS at the end of June at the South Jakarta office, this was a right before the lockdown. They completed it in 7 working days and apologized for the delay as their system was down for 2 days. We went in person with all the correct paperwork and it was a fairly simple process. I don't know if you are allowed to go in person at this time, but even when I picked up my passport they had started lockdown but they were allowing people to come in to drop off and pick up paperwork.

My husband and I live overseas and since I will be in Jakarta for only 5-6 weeks I don't think I should apply Kitas.Just read about EPO,etc which seems complicated.I may need to re-plan.Thank you all for all your help !

Was before all the Covid regulations , my original Vitas to Kitas took 3 weeks in 2015 . Everything has to go through the Dept of Labour and Human Rights now with all the Covid regulations/rules . Nearly 3 months to renew my last Kitas ,mid october 2020 and got it mid january 2021 , usually 5-7 days . Alhi Status , Conversion of Kitas to Kitap was 3 months , I was told 6 months in October 2020 due to the Covid regulations . It was just on 3 months before I got called in for biometrics/finger prints and photos after I submitted the application in mid June 2021 and can expect another 1 to 2 months from what the officer told me when I went in for Biometrics / Finger Print and Photo's 2 weeks ago at the Jember office . Has to go to the Kanwill / Dept of Labour /Human Rights in Surabaya then the Director Generals dept in Jakarta . If the regional office has taken 3 months to do there bit I hate to think how long the Kanwill /Dept of Labour/Director General are going to take . And I've heard there not accepting any new Vitas applications during the Covid restictions !!

Applied for forever KITAP in June, got it September. About 3 months. Old one expired Aug 8 but no problems with that. Was sent a WA from Immigration that it expired but there will be no overstay charge past that date.

Good to see some of them sticking to the time frame . I contacted the Director Generals Dept in Surabaya when the Jember office said 6 months . They said should only take 3 months but every office has there own process . So much for the Indonesian wide system that was supposedly put in place to simplify and speed things up . Fingers crossed mine will be through soon . Local offices won't let me apply for KTP ,SKTT cards and add my name to the KK without it .

Can you tell me what the requirments where for the forever kitap application ?
