Housing Zones

Not sure if this is right place so if it needs moving let me know.

So i live in what was once a quiet 2 lane residential road in South Jakarta. Not a big road and not on the general traffic path. A few years back someone setup a small warehouse for gas and water distribution center which has steadily grown and become a huge business. As a result our small road now has trucks parked all the way down one side all day long. Traffic is forced into and on driveways resulting in damage and wear to them. We even have seen big container style trucks parking and taking up 3/4 of the road. I also worry about the storage of so many gas bottles in a housing area and (again) all the trucks parked right outside houses with hundreds of gas bottles.

We complained to the RT who i suspect gets some money from the business so he did nothing. Complained to the Lura who wasn't interested. We then got signatures from all the residents on the road and submitted that to the police. They were very sympathetic and came for a few days to move the trucks on but it didn't last.

So what would be the next step? Any suggestions? Im sure that the zoning in the area restricts such large businesses but who would enforce that?

Well Ruserious, I don't think I can help you but my impression there is no planning control, people just do what they want, we did have someone who wanted to put a garage/ repair shop on a plot of land and several people complain and it was never built, I think they brow beat the RT man, also we had a plot of land were rubbish was being dumped, it turned out the RT man was getting a back hander, I don't know if your road pays the RT man but if you do stop payment might help

I remember reading somewhere that a housing complex had a similar problem. They were able to argue that their road is a residential road, and limit it to just residents of the area. They then installed barricades at the entrances so only residents could enter. Their problem however was slightly different because they were complaining about through traffic.

Its a place we (well the missus) own so that would definitely not be easy or quick.
Your missus can rent out that place that you live now -> once you have it rented out you move to new place (with the same rent), if you like new place sell the old one. Maybe not a quick solution to your problem but it is doable.

I'm sure this is something you could complain to at City Hall. Better be quick while Djarot is still there. Jokowi's and then Ahok's administration has been very strict with building permits and zoning as far as I understand, so they might be willing to step in.

You could try contacting the BP2T for help or at the very least guidance?
