My estimate that Ahok will loose with max 3% margin were too optimistic.
This huge margin is disappointing and frightening.

Internally I was okay with a 3-5% margin loss. Indications of 20% margin (after 40% reporting) is very disappointing in many ways. Waiting for %turnout.....

Its hard to turnover the numbers drastically....
Unless someone could prove that the elections is hacked with thousands votes differences....

If KPU came out with different number, its better to stay out of Jakarta at least until tuesday next week

But Jakartans voted mostly against themselves and they chose proven incapable leader. Anis is well known in Ministry of Education where he left a huge mess.
At the end of the day, the new one will probably make the same mess with mismanagement and corruption in the city so they will not have any advantage for 2019 presidential elections against Jokowi.

It doesn't matter how good you are or how clean you are, you can lose by the issue of "sara" (ethnicity, religion, race).

Honestly, Ahok gave them an excuse to attack him quoting Quran. As an experienced politician, he should know what he can speak and what he should avoid. The event in Thousand Islands was really a gift to them, making Ahok defending all time and not having time to promote him and his election agenda.

Ahok didn't realistically stand a chance- that's my 2 pennyworth.
I do think he did extremely well to get as many votes as he did.

Well, this is the ultimate test for Prabowo of course. For him this has been a great opportunity to test the water.

Now he knows he stands a good chance in '19 and where he should focus on...

This sounds about right. Suharto clan and Prabowo using religion to gain power. I don't possibly know what could possibly go wrong.

Not sure about the French election. Melenchon vs Le Pen might be interesting, but otherwise Le Pen has no chance whatsoever.

Ahok's Quran misquote is Hillary's email. In the grand scheme of things they don't matter, but their opponents managed to milk these little mistakes to the max.
