US Presidential Election - What's your take?

That would be to Trump's own network. Ailes has a show, Hannity will get one. I know his son is working hard on putting it together.
Don't forget Breitbart, Drudge Report and Infowars.

As things stand right now, Trump should lose. He came out with his 100 day plan and it was heavy on the first day part of it. I read it over and thought, yes, some good ideas, some not so good, and even a couple completely idiotic. What I couldn't figure out is how he would get anything done. He is dilusional if he thinks the Congress and Senate will give him anything he wants. He said he will kill all unconstitutional executive orders Obama gave on the first day. While I agree that there should be no unconstitutional executive orders, how did he and his team come to the conclution that they were the determiners of what is and what isn't?

i think what is going to be interesting and possibly terrifying is Trump after the vote and he loses. Is there a cut off of what difference there is to contest? He has stated that he is planning on suing every Woman who came out against him with their statements of missbehaving and anyone he feels lied about him as soon as the election is over. Will he try to contest if the difference in votes is 3 million or more? How much will he present himself as a childish sore loser? The complete meltdown may be coming with his mental state.

You never know. Trump has a lot of quiet supporters. Could end up like BREXiT.

yes it could but there better be a lot of quiet supporters to make up the poll differences. I think Brexit was closer then those.

hehehe...good analogy....in an odd sort of way.

If the USA polls are wrong, and Donald wins as Boris did, then a converse analogy prevails. Great Britain loses its 'great' (when Scotland secedes) and USA gains 'great' because HE says so.

Both countries are being lied to by two people, with funny hair, that were born in the same city (New York)....and neither seem to like paying taxes......that's the only analogy that's relevant.

Anything is possible, but I hope our crackpot level does not approach that of the UK. Maybe crackpot is not the right word; I am referring to persons willing to shoot themselves in the foot to make a point.

Anything is possible, but the probability is low.

The odds for Brexit were close right before the vote, within the statistical margin of error. Clinton is about 7 points ahead of Trump, so his chance of winning is small.

I have not kept up on the blow for blow of this thread over the 59 pages.

As most Americans well know, the U.S. is not direct election, but electoral college. Clinton has an advantage in that despite national opinion polls simply by demographics of certain states. Her only disadvantage is that certain demographics that reliably vote democrat are apathetic and may stay home. The most vocal and reported on that I have heard is that many black voters are not expected to turn out because they no longer have a black candidate to vote for.

I keep wondering how many refuse to admit they are voting for Trump because it is not the socially correct answer because he is so polarizing. This has happened a few times in poling in American politics and has a name, the Bradley effect.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_effect

This polarizing statements of Trump towards Mexicans and Immigration as a whole have put off many Hispanic voters, which leaned republican in some elections. I wonder if it is enough to increase turnout to overcome any Bradley effect.

I am just glad it will be over soon.

From my own personal political view:
I am very sad to see the TPP as the punching bag for both parties. I hope this is just election speak and the both of the two faced lying candidates go back to their big business ways and get that back on track.

Anybody here emailing their ballot instead of using a snail mail? (or faxing it in?)

After the election on Nov 8th does the public get access to the actual number of people that vote for each candidate?
The electoral college results kinda skewes those results as most States have a 'winner take all' voting system.
I'd be very interested to see how many voters Trump really convinced to buy his snake-oil.

Not only after but during the November 8th election it is actual votes that are tallied and reported by the media as they become available. Of course the Electoral College number are reported, as well, but most of the focus is on the state by state voter numbers as they are reported.

And there is a benefit of being in Indonesia. In the US many have to stay up well into the early morning hours to see vote tallies, while being here you can just get up at your normal time and watch it during the day on satellite and cable TV. No missed sleep.

Thanks waarmie...I wasn't thinking clearly.....the votes will have to be individually counted before the Electoral vote from individual States is announced (which are the votes counted to nominate who becomes President).
If he gets more than 50% of the populous vote he might drum out it was 'rigged' ....all over again.

hahaha...I just hope no-one gets up here on Nov 8th...have breakfast.....and watch the results...:nono:

If they do they will be confused about the regular programming and the talk of tomorrows voting.

Most people in the US will not have to stay up late. Many of the largest states are easy calls. So much that I am willing to call them now. California and New York for Clinton, Texas for Trump. With electronic and early voting, the results come in quickly. A complaint would more likely be is they call the race before the west coast finished voting.

The fat lady sings and bells ring when any contestant reaches 270 votes. Given there are 435 votes available and 74 are shared between CA/OR/WA that leaves 361...which would mean to achieve a winner, without those States, the loser would only get 91 votes......it's possible but unlikely. In any event the voting is not only for the President as all the House of Representatives and a third of the Senate seats are up for grabs.

This time-zone issue is also a problem in Canada (B.C. felt disenfranchised). They adjust the polls open/close times, across the country, in an attempt to ameliorate the issue...a few years ago they tried to hold the counting from the press but that didn't work.

Texas is not as Republican as all that. Bush won it by only 3% in 1992, and Dole by 5% in 1996.

Sorry, you need to recheck your numbers. There are 538 electoral votes.
