US Presidential Election - What's your take?

It is probably too late for Trump but I imagine the latest edict by President Duterte of the Philippines to separate itself from the USA and align with China would have been great fodder for Trump's rhetoric.
If I were a green-card Filipino, living permanently in the USA, I'd be lining-up to apply for citizenship.....especially if Trump wins.

Hey, this is an oldie (from 2008), and I'm not saying it is representative of any current behavior at Fox (I wouldn't know, I never watch it), but ... you want to see truly repugnant media bias? Check this out (it shows how Fox News altered the photos of NYT reporters to make them uglier):

http://mediamatters.org/research/2008/07/02/fox-news-airs-altered-photos-of-ny-times-report/143921

I can live with the kind of bias where the same news story is reported with headlines that spin differently, but (assuming the accusations are accurate) the kind of "bias" depicted in the link is straight-up dishonesty. Not acceptable anywhere on the spectrum.

There are reports that once the election is over there will be some big changes coming to Fox News. With the ouster of Roger Ailes and the Murdok sons basically taking over the direction of the network, there has to be. The sons were never fans of Ailes running the network. It is rumored that the network will be styled after Megan Kelly's persona on air and her contract comes up early 2017. I think you will see the departure of a few individuals like Hannity and those that at this time refuse to report any negativities and bend facts to their wishes. We have already seen a change in O'Riley with his calling Trump out on some matters. This wouldn't have happened before Ailes left.

Fox will continue to lean far right but perhaps they will get a little closer to that "Fair and Ballanced" statement.

While I doubt that Fox will actually change from political shill to news organization, it would be instructive to see where subscribers migrate, should it come to pass.

Even if they go more news they will still lean right. I think there is no doubt they will remain supporters for the GOP.

.
If our 'liberal' in Europe is considered right of center, I wonder what our left is in comparison?

Here's a Trump that wouldn't surprise me any longer being the state of mind he seems to be in.
One day before the US Election, November 7, 2016, he drops out. He announces that the system is so rigged he knows there is no chance to succeed in this election. November 8, Hillary wins. November 9 Trump states he lost only because he pulled out of the election. Even with the rigged election he now knows that he still would have won.

To him, he never lost so he is happy.

Previously reported.....
"No Republican candidate has won the White House without the state of Ohio. Indeed, Donald Trump must win the state, as well, to have a chance at the presidency. Early voting returns have shown encouraging signs for Trump, with fewer Democrats in the Buckeye State requesting absentee ballots this year than in 2012. Recent polling has shown Trump’s slim lead from late September fading away: "

Today's news indicate Ohio may vote for an independent! There's 20 electoral votes that wont count....so 250 votes takes the White House...I read Hillary had 300 in her pocket without Ohio.

Enter Trump.TV. As Salon’s Matthew Sheffield’s explained, Trump will be ideally situated to benefit from the demise of the Fox News brand among Republicans. Reports since Ailes’ ousting indicate that Rupert Murdoch and sons Lachlan and James, who help run parent company 21st Century Fox, plan to begin shedding the network’s image as a right-wing media outfit in favor of a more serious journalistic effort.Host Shepard Smith recently told the Huffington Post that Murdoch indicated after the Ailes scandal that he planned to make Fox News “the best news organization in the America.”
But a more mainstream news source is not what Republican viewers want. While Fox News’ reputational ranking went down, Republicans still despise both CNN and MSNBC much more. CNN and MSNBC were ranked 1,470 and 1,471, respectively.

Trump Has Small Lead In Three National Polls

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/donald-trump-small-lead-three-145721448.html

The Republican presidential nominee held a lead of 1 point in the Investors Business Daily/TIPP tracking poll over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in a four-way race that included Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein. Trump led Clinton 41% to 40% in the poll.Trump also held a 2-point lead in the right-leaning Rasmussen poll, also in a four-way race, in which he had a 43% to 41% edge over Clinton.
And in a two-way race, the Los Angeles Times/USC tracking poll found him up 45% to 44% over the former secretary of state.

If you have a 1 point lead in the Rasmussen Poll as a republican you are sure to lose by 8 to 10 points. I think they basically only poll Republicans.

That would make me remember of the Indonesian election... not sure it's a good thing!

There is an article of that happening....http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/08/what-if-trump-quit.html

What was amusing is that the Republicans could say he was a planted Democrat double-agent. I did read somewhere that media thought Trump was a Democrat as he had funded Bill Clinton's candidacy.

Either way, it is bizarre, and the end of the GOP as it used to be...whether he wins, loses or simply drops out.

Didn't he switch from being a Democrat to Republican some fifteen years ago? I think Trump is none of the two btw, just opportunistic.

Many people still believe the urban myth Trump paying off someone's mortgage after the person helped him out when he was stuck on the highway with car trouble.

I don't even thing it was as long as 15 years ago. I do know because he stated it that Bill Clinton was the one who suggested he make a run for president as a republican. So yes, he could very well be called a plant. At least he would actually be successful.

Urban myth based on Howard Hughes being picked up hitch hiking on the road and giving a new will to the nice guy who picked him up.

Interesting video on Sky news today of Trump extolling the virtues of Clinton when she ran against Obama in the last presidential election, 100% change of opinion, what a hypocrite, the US doesn't need all this

Of course, no disputing that Fox will continue to favor conservative views, but once it (perhaps I should say, "if") adopts a more reasoned and fact based conservatism, the conspiratorial, xenophobic, Tea Party leaning elements will migrate elsewhere for their "news". I was just wondering where "elsewhere" happens to be.

That would be to Trump's own network. Ailes has a show, Hannity will get one. I know his son is working hard on putting it together.
