Wednesday 22 May mass demonstration ⛔️

There was unrest until 4 AM. We just went to the market and business as usual.

About the ambulance with rocks and envelopes with money, according to Fadli Zon (who else? ?) it was all staged.

There are more and more stories, statements and rumors about payments. Of course it’s extremely difficult to prove anything.

Schools closed again? WTF? I mean it is great having no traffic and even WA going down for a bit was quite relaxing, but this is getting ridiculous just because of a few hundred paid rioters in a city of 15m.
To the best of my knowledge, some schools have closed until Monday.

Where do all the protesters sleep? They aren't being paid enough for hotels, is there an encampment somewhere?

The mosques ?

But this time, because of Ramadan there wasn’t as much sleeping as during 2/12

It seems some hardliners are not willing to give up and still stick around.

Now there’s some anxiety it will spread to Kerawang and the police is still on 24H alert.

Hi All...
It takes me like 3 years to get back to this forum.
anyway, Hopefully things will get better...
i don't understand about the chaos.. let's say so many uneducated people here.
luckily we still have 55% who are sane.........

Yes, but it's not easy to manage a household where 45% of the inhabitants are lunatics.

Welcome back! Hope you stick around.

I will.... this time I will put the bookmark on it and write down the pass.. (boy I'm ageing)

I think its a bit unfair to call all Prabowo supporters lunatics. A democracy can never be fully one sided and im sure there are people who have some valid reasons for voting for him beyond the (i believe) fake rhetoric he used of being the religious candidate. To call them all lunatics leads to a situation like so much of america is right now where people dont seem to be able to get past which party you support and it seems to define fully who you are.

But yes the 0.005% who are on the streets causing such a fuss. Yes they are the lunatics and im sure there is another percentage of Prabowo supporters who are lunatics but not all 45%.

Could you accept say 39% lunatics? But of course I agree with the general sense of what you are saying. People are drawn to candidates and their presentation for all sorts of reasons but I find it hard to see anything attractive with Prabowo and his petulance and inability to accept that he has lost the election. As for the 0.005% on the streets, I guess we are in agreement there.

I think you are underestimating the number of lunatics... "#JokowiMundurlah" is trending with over 192,000 tweets so far. Sure, some of those are robots, and others are using it ironically, but there are tens of thousands of delusional NPCs who somehow believe that Pra-bohong was cheated out of the election.

192,000 is a far far number shy of 45% of voters. I personally could not find anything appealing about Prabowo but to label someone a lunatic just for voting for him is too divisive. Im used to this as i deal with a lot of americans who support trump. Just becuase Trump is a lunatic and i dont agree with their views doesnt make them all lunatics (well now i use that example maybe harryopal is right and 39% are lunatics).

My Grab driver on Tuesday was a student from Bandung. (He had a green Uni jacket hanging in the back.)

And he said he was going to demonstrate.

Now he was definitely not a looney, not too fanatic and rather smart. But his assertion was completely based on; they cheated. And yes, according to him there was definitely proof offered but it was ignored.

Then you hit a wall and there's no more arguing possible. People like that strongly believe what they're being told.

Cheated on the order of a margin of victory > 15,000,000 votes... this dude should move to America and buy lottery tickets with that line of thinking.

About the ambulance with rocks and envelopes with money, according to Fadli Zon (who else? ?) it was all staged.

Now for those who still think there were only independent provokator active (which I hear quite a lot from Indonesians): I hate to burst Fadli's bubble but there is a -very probable- link between the ambulance and the (close family of the) presidential candidate:

The Gerindra ambulance had 5 people on board who handed out stones and the like. There are witnesses to this and it has been determined independently by the police. Two of those persons on board have official GERINDRA functions (they were even carrying paperwork with their parties' assignment).

The ambulance itself is owned by PT Arsari Pratama, where Prabowo's nephew is a commissioner. So Aryo, his brother's son. This is confirmed by Arief, a GERINDRA representative. Who declared he did not know whether his father, so Parabowo's brother, also has a function in that company.
.

The only doubt I have about this whole ambulance story is that it's so dumb. Can these people really be that stupid?

I can see people voting for Prabowo simply as the opposition candidate. Let us be honest. Prabowo is an ultra nationalist candidate and Jokowi has made strides in opening up the country to foreigners like us. Prabowo is not going to get a lot of love around here, but I can see some of Jokowi's detractors points too. Even though Indonesia has grown economically under Jokowi, there are many voters that have seen better growth from other presidents. The growth has not been even across Indonesia.

I dislike that Prabowo is actively trying to undermine faith in government institutions, but I have to face the fact that he doesn't have to work that hard to do that in Indonesia.

But his assertion was completely based on; they cheated.

Does anyone assume the vote is totally accurate? With the massive amount of local control and corruption and a weak central government, I assume there was some cheating by localized politicians across Indonesia. I don't think the campaigns could have stopped it even if they were not coordinating it.
