We need to buy flight tickets to europe, the million-dollar question

Ok yes I see the photo sorry. Yes sure pay in rupiah.

4366 EUR = 88,170,409.48 IDR today so you see good

"When using a credit card (CC) abroad or for international transactions, you should always choose the local currency (e.g., Euro if in Europe, Rupees if in India) rather than having the merchant convert it to your home currency"

  • Better Exchange Rates: Choosing the local currency ensures your credit card network (Visa, Mastercard) performs the conversion, which is generally much more favorable than the exchange rate offered by the merchant.
  • Avoid Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC): If you choose to pay in your home currency, the merchant or ATM operator uses a process called DCC. They set their own, often unfavorable, exchange rates and may add hidden markup fees, resulting in a higher total cost.
  • Avoid Double Conversion Fees: Choosing your home currency can sometimes trigger a "double hit," where you pay both a bad conversion rate and an additional conversion fee.

the credit card is from europe but the price is in rupiah from their website, although this time for the first time I see they allow you to choose to pay in rupiah or in euro, that is what confuse me, ok so I better to pay in rupiah. terimakasi

Another advantage of Emirates is that they have good sleepover options within the terminal building. It's quite expensive but it makes all the difference to be able to have a full night sleep in between two seven hour flights.
Having said that if I did it now I would probably be up all night listening for the sound of missiles!

I think being chained to only one airline is a big disadvantage.

Look at price differentials between a one way and RT ticket. I went back to the US for almost 5 months recently, and went on one way tickets. Sent my 13 year old back by herself on a Starlux flight, with only a single stop in Taipei. About $600. Got all my medical appointments done by the end of March, so decided to go home sooner.

Award tickets are the most flexible, usually. I found a single business class award coming back in May on Starlux (using Alaska Air miles), but decided to return in April. I just refunded the ticket, and got my miles back.

Europe has many better priced flights to Indonesia, compared to Indonesia to US. Also look at DPS-CGK-Europe flights. I wouldn’t do an overnight in SIN.

Please I have another question, on the ticket to go to Europe the maximun stay is 6 months which is fine for us, but on the way to come back maximun stay 3 months, what does mean? if we live in Indonesia this is no relevant right? I shouldn´t be worry about that ya?
Terimakasi, have a beautiful day

Jstar, to leave from Singapore never has work for me, for example right now is almost the same price leaving from denpasar than leaving from singapore (1.458 euro from singapore and from denpasar 27.965.882 rp (1.434 euro more or less depend on the change).

A comparison between Star Alliance (Singapore airlines, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, United Airlines, …) flights between Denpasar and Barcelona and Singapore and Barcelona. I just picked some random dates. You get much lower prices with other airlines.

Tips for the current situation:
  • Never take one way flights unless you pay with miles.
  • To Europe is much cheaper than from Europe.
  • Book to leave on Sunday through Tuesday.
  • The three Middle Eastern airlines (and Oman and Saudi) are much cheaper than the others.
  • Pay the currency that your credit card supports and prefers, not the countries’ currency (anymore).

The maximum stay in EU without stay permit is 90 days in 180 days. If you exceed you will get a ban (which is I think 180 days).

One way fares are fine, as long as you check out the return fare costs. Some fares using one way tickets can be cheaper, or wildly more expensive.

You can often find RT biz class tickets for €2000-3000 to Europe. Given the extra baggage allowance and seat comfort, and sometimes more flexibility on ticket changes always check it out.

If you have EU citizenship, then you can obviously stay in España as long as you’d like. If you have Indonesian permanent residency, then generally you have to be in the country at least one day a year.

CGK and MAD are cheaper hubs to fly in and out of for many airlines. If you can buy a cheap connecting flight it’s often worth the effort, as a separate ticket.

$633 RT Saudia coach, DPS-BCN, with connections. Dry airline. I’ve flown them in business class and they were fine.

DPS-BCN one way Saudia, coach. With connections. $417

Yes, as said the ME big three and some others can be much cheaper. But she prefers to avoid those (or that area) and normally takes Singapore Airlines. I would have a closer look at Turkish Airlines when flying economy (not business).

That Etihad is a bargain the business class one. 9 hours in AUH will fly by with the lounge access too. Snap that one up.

Sudah!!!! sudah beli tickets!!!
terimakasi banyak for your support, advices and ideas! I had clear I didn´t want to use any of the ME airlines, so no many choices left, I checked China Air which has cheap prices but the schedule of the flights are no that good, for me travelling alone it could maybe be ok and I know now for the future if I want to travel alone, but traveling with my daugther no way I would choose a flight leaving at 2 or 3 am.
These probably are the most expensive tickets I have ever pay, 83 juta rupiah for the three of us, but being August and going there for three months minimum (I need as well the maximun stay there for 6 months just in case), there is cheaper tickets but only maximum stay 3 months.
aduhhhh so many factors and things we need to think about and check when buying tickets. We will get miles as well, which is good.
What really made me mad is when I was about to buy the tickets, had a problem with the credit card and I tried again and the price went up................so it pushed me to change the day I wanted to leave in order to get the same price. I check now and the day I wanted to leave, the price I got at the beggining is there again...........
It was like the game of cat and mouse..............
I've never bought tickets so far in advance, usually maximum two months before, but with all the war and things around this time, I though was better to buy them now and forget it, sekarang sudah bisa santai.
Have a nice weekend
