i'm glad to have found this forum,so nice! ~ ~i've reviewed the immigration office's website, but the information seems unclear.

My wife is an Indonesian citizen, and we got married in my country a few months ago. Our marriage certificate has been authenticated by the Indonesian consulate in my city, but marriage certificate is not in English or Indonesian (though there's an English translation that has been notarized and authenticated by the indonesian consulate).now we plan come back to indonesia for 4 months, so I have a few questions:

1. Can the required US 2000 be in my own country's bank? (with an English translation, even though it's not in USD). Obviously, I don't have an Indonesian local bank's account

2. Can I use the English translation of the marriage certificate? (already notarized and authenticated by the Indonesian consulate)

3.Is the initial KITAS for 1 or 2 years? If I don't renew it ( such as we will come back to my country) , does it mean that next time I visit Indonesia, I'll need to reapply for the C317 visa again?

thanks~my friends

You should renew it
After you have it or married 2 years you get kitaP

Anyway you can stay out 185 days a year total

First of all, I am thanks your help. Additionally, I'd like to clarify: are you saying that if I hold a KITAS, I have to spend at least 180 days in Indonesia every year? Otherwise, I'll lose my KITAS?it is very important

No that's not what I'm saying

the first question, are you saying that it must be an Indonesian local bank account?

Well you ask if it can be in your own country"s account.
My reply "no"

Ergo ipso facto, donc, therefore however the logical assumption must be the opposite is true

Yes it should be in an indonesian account

However, some in the past have found this flexible. If it's your first one you might get away with original bank statements showing minimum balance of $2000 US$ for at least 3-6 months with regular credit

Not just borrow $2k and leave it in there for a month like people do for US visa

For tax reasons or just to keep it valid?
If you are outside for more than 180 days in one stretch it's invalid
So come in and out at least twice a year for a day

I am not sure about this. Source?

Multiple
183 day domicile tax etc
You have to be resident somewhere right? If you stay in Indonesia more than 183 days then this is considered your tax domicile. That's why you have or should have npwp

An individual is regarded as a tax resident if one fulfils any of the following conditions: Resides in Indonesia. Is present in Indonesia for more than 183 days in any 12-month period. Is present in Indonesia during a fiscal year and intends to reside in Indonesia.

I think our OP is only asking about what is required to maintain the Kitas.

I processed a c317 in 2021 and used a foreign bank account with no problem to verify funds. If you are applying offshore there wouldn't be an expectation for you to have an Indonesian bank account open yet.

thanks so much

The OP wants to stay in Indonesia for only 4 months. Applying for C317 visa and Kitas is a hassle.

1.
I would advice to apply online for an e-VOA, this is a Visa on Arrival (30 days), which can be extended online for another 30 days. So in total 60 days. Then fly to Kuala Lumpur (i.e. exit Indonesia) and come back again to Indonesia with an e-VOA for 30 days, which can be extended again for 30 days. In total 120 days.

2.
Or apply for a B211 tourist visa (180 days) but cost around 250 dollars trough an agent.

3.
If one still want to apply for a Kitas. I think a Kitas-spouse in this case, although maybe not possible, because the WNI is not in Indonesia. Applying for a Kitas for 1 year. However for renewal, one has to be in Indonesia. Not extending would mean, one has to apply for a new Kitas every time.

Your info is out of date just fyi

And where does the op say only 4 months a year? Unless they edited their original post

In the last sentence of the second paragraph: 4 months.

My info is out of date. I didn't know that. The visa B211?

1. Pretty sure it didn't say 4 months the first time unless I misread because of course then I would have said get a 211

2. No need to leave / fly out now. You extend / renew without leaving the country these days
3. It is actually now 5 months, 30 days then extend for 30,, then do that 2x more, not the traditional 60 days, so split hairs over its same or not but before it said 60 days ++ but now its 30+ and then ++

Also now you HAVE to pay 2jt tax (the old $50) and its 1.6jt (or 2.5jt) for the process
I think 1.6 to renew
2.5 for the original
Actually if you exc. the $1200 manpower tax its the same roughly as a kitas (exc the sponsor fee etc)

about 20-25ish for kitas plus $1200 plus sponsor fee 15jt etc
in his case he has a wife so easier - and always better to have a kitas so you have unrestricted entry exit like when we had covid you could still come home

also with kitas you can get full banking services, credit etc and rent buy car apartment and such

I have obtained a C317 visa and will be going to Indonesia within 3 months. Thanks very much for help
