Parmigiano Reggiano DOP 24 months aged

To clarify, I don't buy huge wheels, but buy 1-2kg packages that are real product, and about the same price per kilo as if buying a huge wheel.

I'd strongly suggest that the admins implement a clear advertising policy. Post a price and details, or delete the post. As you can see from this thread it causes lots of unnecessary problems.

I agree that the OP seems to be mistaken that the cheese is not sold outside of Italy.

But here in Indonesia? Where is it available?

I have never looked for it in Kemchick's but that's a very probable sales point.

Now, I have seen it a couple of times already in the 'wine & cheese' event, a half yearly small expo next to Mal Kelapa Gading. There the importers and specialized shops showcase their products. They also have many other 'protected' cheeses as Grana Padano (which is even older but has been not so strong in marketing), Edam cheese, Gouda, and even Keju Herve!). And they are no replicas you would buy in a Carrefour or so.

Talking about 'food expo', specialized on restaurants, there is one in the Jakarta Expo Kemayoran in November. It is called SIAL InterFOOD.

Also since quite some (upscale) Italian restaurants in Jakarta do use it, it makes sense it is commercially available. This was published some years ago btw:

To clarify with you and fastpitch, I never said that italian Parmigiano Reggiano is not for sale out of Italy, I just said that it is very hard to find in Indonesia, so I opened this thread for expats in Indonesia struggling for some original Parmigiano Reggiano, so if you are one of them you are welcome, otherwise there is not reason for you to post here, expecially talking about products sold in USA, its completely off topic.
I didnt post the price just to avoid that people like you and fastpitch create a mess for nothing.
I strongly suggest admins to bun from a thread people whoare not in line with the purpouse of the thread itself.
cheers

Thanks moderator, I really appraciated your post.
Mine it was not a strategic marketing, I yust wanted to see what kind of posts I get back, and until now i only must defend myself from people who pretend to compare my product with something that is not parmigiano reggiano, cannot imagine the comments if I publish the price. tks

I guess I missed the "belittle your potential customers" session of my Successful Marketing class at university. Please let me know how that strategy works out.

Thanks for your attendance, just let me say that I never said that there can't be any product unless it is brought directly from Italy like fastpitch assumed.
Anyway, the point is that I opened this thread for expats in Indonesia who are struggling for some Original Parmigiano Reggiano and fastpitch and jaime posted something that is not releted with my thread, like some parmisan cheese or Parmigiano Reggiano sold in USA.
In your forum posting rules and etiquette is written:
"Do not hijack threads. Please try to stick to the topic of the thread, and do not post unrelated things to steer people away from the topic of the thread. If you have an unrelated topic you would like to discuss, you may start your own thread." so I I expect admins (witch already sayd that Im doing in the right way) to do enforce this rule.
I will be glad to pst my prices in the moment I will be sure that my thread is cleaned by people that dont follow the rules, in the meantime I will continue to answers to the PM like I did until now. Tks

Users who replay posting others kind of cheese are not potential customers, I suppose that a graduate of a university should be more acute, anyway this is a thread for expats in Indonesia strugglin for some original Parmigiano Reggiano, if you are one of them you are welcome, otherwise please dont waste my time with something off topic, tks

Marsel, I was being sympathetic but now you are being just plain nasty.

A couple points:

- Don't be so quick to judge: Jaime C and Fastpitch live in Indonesia. But even of they weren't, this forum is welcoming to all.

- Since you bring up the forum rules: if you have a problem with a post, you should use the report button rather than taking matters in your own hands. This is also written in the rules.

- I know your first language isn't English but some of your posts are not very clear. That's ok. You did say:

And final, u cant bring to me any Parmigiano Reggiano or other italian cheese just because u dont live in Italy.Cheers

This is understandably confusing.

It seems that this thread has run its course. I will now lock it to prevent further misunderstandings and bickering unless other mods wish to re-open it.

What we stand to learn from this thread is that we could all use a bit more patience and understanding in our dealings.

Are these legally imported into Indonesia? I usually see a sticker on imported goods, with ingredients listed in Bahasa Indonesian. Since I can only see the picture of the front of the package, I can't see the back.

Thanks for your question JamieC, the custom always cleared the cheese without problem and never asked for any sticker with the ingredients in bahasa indonesia.
Parmigiano Reggiano, as you can see in a post above from JStar, is already register as GI in Indonesia.
Well, do you want order some Kilo? Tks

So this cheese is brought in with personal luggage, or through a legitimate importer?

I don't need any cheese at this point, but will keep you in mind if I need some. Is it the same 650-700k per kg you have advertised on Facebook?

The price can change, sometimes we have special promotions so anytime you want to place an order, please PM me to get te current price. Thank you very much

You seem to be avoiding my first question.

I ordered some cheese from Marsel - it arrived very promptly. Since I had some parmesan sarvecchio (a Wisconsin cheese) that I had bought at Whole Foods in the US, I was able to do a comparison. Bottom line is that both were good, they were rather different, and - assuming I could get both, whereas in fact I can't get the sarvecchio 90% of the time - I would probably make a choice based on what I was going to do with it. The sarvecchio was drier and disintegrated more easily, which is what I'm looking for if I'm cooking, so if I could I would probably use that to incorporate into something like parmesan-rosemary bread.

The reggiano was moister and had a "fruitier", more complex taste - I would use it where the cheese itself is being featured. I put both cheeses on top of some chifferi rigati with finely chopped scallions, red pepper, sour cream, and Japanese mayo. The reggiano was definitely superior in that setting because it added a more complex flavor; my husband and I both thought so.

You seem to be avoiding my first question.

[Provisional mod note] This remark is not in keeping with the spirit of civility we would like to maintain in this part of the forum. It's fairly clear to all that marsel has answered you to the extent that he plans to do so in post #51.

If you think this somehow puts the forum or cheese purchasers at risk, you can certainly report the post and give your reasons for concern. If you want to be critical of various business practices, you can certainly go to the Cage - or even just General Chat, if you prefer to keep the discussion amiable.

I have given you some options you can use to express yourself; however, pointless needling (heh, that's quite the image) is not one of them. The mods will talk about this further and most likely will get back to you privately.[/Provisional mod note.]

My favorite way to eat Parmigiano: a thin wedge of the cheese along with some fresh pear. Delicious.

Wonder how that would taste with Marsel's cheese. I anticipate it would be quite good thanks to the moister and fruitier qualities described by Puspa.

^^I'll have to try that! (If I can find decent pears, that is.)

I like to eat PR or GP just like candy, when watching TV or working with PC at home, put small chunk in mouth and let slowly, sometime with grapes.

Iyaa... all ours import procedure follows the laws of Indonesia for imports and exports, otherwise the customs never cleared the goods, so dont worry about that.
I wait for your order, tks
