Global Citizenship Indonesia (GCI) and ways to regain Indonesian citizenship.

Definitely gonna have a problem then.

Assume you entered US on that passport. You can't exit on ID passport.

And to enter ID on US you need a visa
LIke I said the best easiest safest way is enter ID on the US pp just get a B1 online instantly for $35 before you fly. A day before do the customs forms.

When you check in at the US airport with your US passport they will ask to see you ID visa. B1. Which you have. With egate.

That's a PDF you can show them. It's VOA

30 seconds after you've gone through the eye scanner egate machine on arrival you get an email from immigration with a PDF which is your B1 valid for 30 days inc.

In 15 days go online and click to extend. Must upload pp. Pp pic. Dep ticket. Pay $35. Then next day or within 3 days go to the immigration office nearest your address it will tell you. There you have an interview. Photos. Signing. Then that B1 is extended 30 days. Another PDF by email.

No more extensions. Have to depart by the date on that visa. 30 days including that same day.

Finish.
So what are my options with regaining Indonesian citizenship?

You will have to give up your US passport and residency and green card and citizenship. Are you really willing to do that. There's a good chance you will never be allowed back in the US. You will lose everything. All your social security etc. And it's going to be a long complicated expensive process to regain your Indonesian passport.

And then you might never be able to return to US again with that President

Is being Indonesian or having the passport really worth it to you for you.

Remember you absolutely cannot have 2 passports. It's completely illegal.

From Google AI : "Getting a U.S. visa as an Indonesian is moderately difficult but highly achievable with proper documentation. While over 90% of non-immigrant applicants (like B1/B2 tourism/business) qualify, success depends on demonstrating strong ties to Indonesia to ensure return. Key challenges include proving financial stability and navigating the mandatory in-person interview in Jakarta or Surabaya."
You will lose everything. All your social security etc.
From Google AI : "Retired Americans generally do not lose their Social Security benefits if they renounce their U.S. citizenship, provided they have earned at least 40 credits (roughly 10 years of work). Benefits are based on work history, not citizenship status. However, payments may be affected by the country of residence."
And it's going to be a long complicated expensive process to regain your Indonesian passport...
I don't agree .

Why don't you tell something about the process and cost ?

Yes yes yes
That's what it says
But the orange guy wakes up and things change.

The process is simple it says. But recently not so forgiving for approving

And I did say others will chime in.

I was hoping you because you know all these things.

Ok so you recommend he does it where. There or here

And renounce US first or apply for new ID first?

If you didn't notice , in post no.3 , Jstar already told you which Regulations you should follow . Go to
https://peraturan.bpk.go.id/Details/4722/pp-no-2-tahun-2007 and
https://peraturan.bpk.go.id/Details/211179/pp-no-21-tahun-2022 to get the 2 Regulations .

I suggest you to first read the 2007's Regulation , select the specific Articles applicable to you , and later check the 2022's Regulation to know if those Articles were revised or not (if a specific Article is not in 2022's Regulation it means that Article in 2007's Regulation is still in force , was not revised) . Take a final look at the 2022's Regulation to be sure no new Article (that affects you) was created .

From a quick look , besides the generics in the beginning , your specific rules start at BAB V , Bagian Ketiga , Article 43 .

Getting a US visa is easy if you are rich, if you are young and have a job tying you to indonesia. When you get older/ retired/ ill then it won't be so straightforward and as Snpark says - who know what the orange tyrant will do at any stage.

I know several people who have had 3rd 4th 5th visits visa rejected in the last 6-12 months despite multiple previous trips

My wife was denied a visa to the US before we were married even though she owns a business in Indonesia. She has a sister in the US and that scares the hell out of immigration. So no, having a job or even owning a business doesn't make it easy to get a US visa.
