    Tax planning for US Expat

Eh, who is ‘us’ ? You do realize you have to pay when using your card on one of those machines right? Unlike in the EU or so, transactions with machines from other banks and on other networks are NOT always free. Also if you transfer to a merchant in a shop -what we do quite a lot- it also...

[Guide] ITAP / IMK: Moving to self-sponsor after spouse’s death (or divorce)

You conveniently ’forgot’ to say for you there is… Retirement visa here lock you to an agent instead of a spouse. Today I had another discussion with some expats who have to provide a domicile letter to the agent for their KITAS extension. They have no idea what a SKTT is and the agent will...

anyone recently travel with spouse to Europe (schengen ) ?

Actually on VFS etc it is. Same with absence of a normal RT/RW structure and accessibility of CatSip etc. But yeah if you pay millions to an agent…

Codewords Check Against AI Generated Scam

Just a next phase in the series of scams of receiving texts or emails with “dad I’m in trouble”. I really wonder whoever could mimic our kids’ voices though and to me it seems as one of those “Omg how could they fall for that?” cases but at 2 AM with a sleepy head, who knows :noidea:

    Inverter AC and cleaning schedule

No it doesn’t. Despite the fact that two super technical savvy members of the forum agree with you, an AC inverter system generally runs its compressor and fan motors at lower, variable speeds rather than turning completely on, blasting at full power & speed and then off again. This is the...

anyone recently travel with spouse to Europe (schengen ) ?

Theoretically it is the place where you’d stay longest but arrival country practically works always and is the tiebreaker.

[Guide] ITAP / IMK: Moving to self-sponsor after spouse’s death (or divorce)

Sure, retirees are the busiest people in the world. So what’s the price difference per year for retirement or spouse KITAS? Eight million rupiah? Ten million? And what is the difference in an out of work? Via an eVisa system a DIY will take you one day. And what about the time on the phone or...

    Inverter AC and cleaning schedule

Everybody here has a different opinion about inverters. It theoretically should be cheaper to operate. But many technicians say it’s an hoax and advise against it. Also for washing machines etc. With my swimming pool pump I don’t see a difference in power usage. Cleaning or getting dirty has...

[Guide] ITAP / IMK: Moving to self-sponsor after spouse’s death (or divorce)

Over here the line of thinking is often that when a demand or rule is omitted from a new law, is is not necessarily ‘undone’ if not specifically mentioned. And you can say and argue whatever you like…

Still using Yolla from time to time. In my case esp. banks abroad, government services and airlines (mile redemption). No issues.

    Waste Management in Indonesia

Big trend now is to dump garbage at residential houses in the bigger streets (no good control by SatPam). Esp. construction waste. But hey, let’s blame it on eh … poverty and education.

Sama. Make online appointment at VFS. Go to Kuningan City Mall, European spouse not allowed to enter, see the tour guide agents get priority, hand over all you have, ….

    Expectations re the Middle East.

This is quite interesting: A bit difficult to conceive but in recent years, Iran has become a significant player in the dairy sector, processing millions of tons of raw milk annually and converting much of it into skimmed milk powder for export. For many food processors across the Middle East...

Questioning the Value of Cow (and similar) Milk

It seems the growing hype around extremely high-protein foods and the increasing popularity of weight loss drugs will drive up the price of baby food. Because adults massively consume protein shakes and bars to maintain muscle mass while losing weight, the demand for concentrated whey protein...

    Mobil Rakyat...new cars

Kia has introduced the new Seltos. In Europe it’s a hybrid with a 1,6 liter engine. Over here it’s a 1,5 liter atmospheric engine. Not a turbo. Obviously in the EU it is a Euro 6 compliant car. Over here Euro 4. So it matches the Indonesian government regulations which mandate Euro 4...

    Skype alternative.

I question a lot of things about you but let’s not go there. And with you it’s always the same ahem ‘argument’; your gut feeling tells you it can’t be and it’s all fake news. Doesn’t matter if it’s about noise, religion or traffic. Can you please use real arguments for once? I could give here...
