flying domestically

I have flown five times with Lion Air since July 22 until now and have not faced any delays or issues. I have tried Bali-Lombok twice roundtrip and Lombok-Jakarta three times roundtrip.

I honestly can't remember the jingle - it's been several years, and the last times I headed to Asia have been direct to Singapore so sadly no ANA code share. I fondly remember them putting on kimonos for food service though.
I got them last year, and if memory serves correctly, they wore an apron for food service.

Yeah, United is spot on. If not because they usually have the lowest rate from USA, I would have picked a different airline. Even with their cheap price, I’m this close of moving away. Customer service? What customer service?
For the 00's I'd say the depiction was too polite; they were nasty. They're a lot better now but still have their low points.
You can book through UA but get codeshare transpacific ANA flights at the same price. (edit - nevermind, i see you do that already)

It’s actually a nice piece of music, but not when looped a gajillion times. It becomes worse than Muzak, because you spend hours on a plane compared to minutes in an elevator.

Ah, either they stopped or it's business class only (work was paying)
Nice. I wasn’t fortunate enough to (or fortunate enough not to) travel internationally for work. Company policy says business class ticket is authorized for any flight of 7 hours or longer. I haven’t had a chance to test it.

As late as 2012 I still ran into the notoriously nasty United flight attendants. My seatmate was a guy from Vietnam who didn’t seem to be a seasoned traveler. Once the plane was in the air, he took advantage of the empty seats by the front wall, because they had more legroom. United was charging these seats as “Economy Plus”, and they demanded the premium rate even when they weren’t booked. The FA looked like she was having a heart attack when she discovered a dude sprawling across three seats there. She addressed him so sternly that the only thing missing was cuss words. She wasn’t talking to me, but the blatant display of disrespect still pissed me off. Yes, the dude wasn’t supposed to do that, but he probably knew 10 words of English total. I felt that the situation could be handled more gracefully. It wasn’t like he took a business class seat, it was still the same stupid economy seat.

We travel a lot. For domestic Indonesia; preference is always Garuda and Citilink.; though not always possible to avoid Lying air.
More often International flight as my daughters live in UK and US, and pulang kampung to Indonesia is a must, at least 1 every year. We're lucky to always fly Business class for long distance international flight; and my ranks starting from best are: Qatar airways, Garuda, Turkish Air, Etihad, Emirate, Thai airways, Delta, Oman Air, Egypt Air, Saudia, Air Astana and company private jet.
End of July for the first time we'll travel with Kenya Airways to Nairobi; half the cost of Qatar but require overnight in Lagos, so total travel time is longer.

We have a similar rule but by distance. Sadly we don't get to travel to Asia much (I got to use that rule for my interview and my actual move), and now that we are no longer on the US west coast, European destinations are also too near 😅

Ah well, maybe someday with miles. It doesn't stretch that far with a family to buy tickets for

Delta is probably the best among the large US carriers, yeah. I never lived near one of their hubs so fly them only rarely, alas (also United is not great but they are in Star Alliance, so the partner airlines are nice)

Delta is also less likely to kill you with the 737 MAX 😅. I actually flew on their almost brand new A220 once (the Bombardier that Boeing screwed over they ended up selling it cheap to Airbus)

Yes, the Delta One is not bad, 180deg flat bed in A330-200; best travel time but the service is not special, very expensive, more expensive than Qatar Airways.

Used TWA quite a lot at the time since they had a direct flight to San Juan (PR). They (re)hired retired stewardesses of 60+. If you asked them something they always answered with something like “I don’t quite remember, but I think so yes”. 🫣😱

Apparently they are thinking about increasing the retirement age for pilots to 67.

I think it is two fold

1. Some of the reasons why pilots should retire at 62 are being debunked with health and technology.

2. The current pilot shortages.
