How to proceess KITAS/VITAS Online

Index 317 is family KITAS, so you are on the right track. Just put the duration of stay of 1 year (date of 1 year from the application). Periode I'm not sure here. It could be something like 2017-2018.

Okay thank you very much. I chose the 317 and 1 year and submitted the packet.

Once granted the 1 year KITAS how do I go about getting a Multiple-Entry Visa as a add-on? Would I go to the same place I have been going to get the 30 day VOA?

The MERP (multiple exit re-entry permit) is automatically included with KITAS now. So once you return from Singapore, report to the local immigration office, and they will stamp it for you.

I am trying to do my KITAS extension. It is essentially seems quite simple - bring the same documents as for the application;
viz.
passport
surat penjaminan from wife
surat kuasa
marriage certificate
marriage reporting from registry office for overseas marriage

No mention of an SKTT but I dare say they will ask for it????

You click here http://izintinggal.imigrasi.go.id/IT-online/permohonan_it.xhtml?tab=1, enter passport number and KITAS number, however in my case I have a new passport so it can't find it, except by entering the old passport number which then shows up on the form. Or with the new passport number it says 'Data Orang Asing Tidak ditemukan. Harap mengisi dengan manual.' However it is not possible to manually enter the data.

Any idea how to proceed?

First of all, I live in Bali with my Indonesian husband and I want to apply for family KITAS. I read all articles, replies in this forum but still, some parts seem not really clear for me about applying online:
Preparing documents:
  • "Bank statement with a minimum balance of at least"
it's enough just simply print balance sheet or should be separate bank letter, like guarantee about sponsors?
  • "After the visa is approved, you can fly to the foreign country of your choice to visit the Indonesian consulate/embassy there"
it's should be done after my sponsor get email from immigration website, when he registered?

Back in Indonesia part:

  • "A Surat Domisili (Proof of Residence Letter) from your Kepala Desa (Village Head) or Lurah (District Head)."
should be mine or my sponsor? Can I make it before going abroad?
  • "Electronic KITAS"
if you apply online, you get only electronic KITAS? Or I can check the box that I want have it in my passport?
  • "Surat Pernyataan dan Jaminan from the local office (similar to the one above), signed by your spouse over a Rp 6,000 materai".
It should be from local village?

Timing part:

  • Mon – Submit application, mail documents to contact in Jakarta.
so I/my husband/or anyone else should go to Jakarta? It's not enough just apply all scanned documents?
  • Fri – Decision arrives from Jakarta.
so we need to go back to Jakarta or everything will be sent by email?

By the way, from 1st of August in Penang changed the situation with issuing Tourist visa for 60 days. Is it not influence anyhow applicants with KITAS? Still it's a good place to go to make social budaya?
Have anyone tried to make social budaya in Bangkok? Any experiences?

Thank you for clarification and help :)

  • "Bank statement with a minimum balance of at least"

A simple print out is enough. The recommended amount should be equivalent to USD 1500.

  • "After the visa is approved, you can fly to the foreign country of your choice to visit the Indonesian consulate/embassy there"
it's should be done after my sponsor get email from immigration website, when he registered?

You will receive notification that your visa is approved. Only after it is approved should you travel to the embassy. Naturally, this is after all your application has been successfully submitted.

Back in Indonesia part:

  • "A Surat Domisili (Proof of Residence Letter) from your Kepala Desa (Village Head) or Lurah (District Head)."
should be mine or my sponsor? Can I make it before going abroad?

This should be in the applicants (foreigner's name). But of course since it is family KITAS, it should be the same address where your sponsor (husband) lives. You can make it anytime, as long as it is fairly recent.

  • "Electronic KITAS"
if you apply online, you get only electronic KITAS? Or I can check the box that I want have it in my passport?

You can now only get the electronic version, which is basically just a print out. It will be e-mailed to you.

  • "Surat Pernyataan dan Jaminan from the local office (similar to the one above), signed by your spouse over a Rp 6,000 materai".
It should be from local village?

This is a form from Imigrasi. If they don't give it out to you, that means it is no longer required, and the online application is enough.

Applications are now fully online, no need to travel to Jakarta.

Penang now requires 4(?) working days turn around for visa, so plan ahead, I suppose.

1. Be married to an Indonesian citizen. No need to be married for any period of time. Be willing to leave Indonesia (not applicable if you are already out of Indonesia) to process visa. Have relevant documents. Be willing to travel to Jakarta, or find someone there who will go for you to pay the rather token sum of 100k rupiah.
2. Scan all the following documents as jpegs, size less than 400kb.

(a) Every page of your passport (suggest front and back as well, to avoid anal Indonesian problems. One page/double page per jpg. Suggest minimum 21 months validity (12 months for kitas, six months for minimum passport validity at end of KITAS, plus 3 months for processing, leaving Indonesia, etc.) Passport should have free space:
* full clean page for ITAS visa
* entry/exit stamp for 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] country
* entry stamp for entry into Indonesia
* combined stamp for KITAS & IMK
(b) KK (family card) in name of spouse
(c) KTP (identity card) for spouse
(d) Marriage certificate
(e) If married outside Indonesia, 'surat laporan perkawinan di luar negeri' is required from your catatan sipil. This should be completed essentially immediately after marriage, following return to Indonesia. However you may be able to arrange a later date.
(f) Surat pernyataan dan jaminan - download here and fill in https://goo.gl/14iaSA Print out, affix 6000IDR materai stamp and sign (in name of Indonesian citizen) which must go partly on top of materai
(g) If married in Indonesia, a certificate of no impediment from your embassy (note: should be obtained before marriage!)
(h) Surat permohonan - download https://goo.gl/RPEJmg and sign in Indonesian citizenship name with materai as above
(i) bank statement with minimum balance of 2.5 mill rupiah (suggest more!) in name of Indonesian

2. Register online in the name of your Indonesian spouse at https://goo.gl/9UG9gH (note if you register in your own (foreigner) name you will NOT be able to process the visa, it must be done as the Indonesian citizen). This requires validation of the email, and you can probably only register Monday-Friday. They will ask you for scans of Indonesian citizen's KTP (id card), Kartu Keluarga (family card) and NPWP (tax card). In practice you do not seem to need the NPWP and where it is required you can probably just upload the KTP again, and put some zeroes in the form as relevant.

3. After the account has been activated, make an application online for a visa for 'suami ikut istri WNI', or 'istri ikut suami WNI' as applicable. There is a limit on the number of applications per day, so doing the application between midnight and noon is a good idea to avoid being cut off till the next day (or Monday!) You will need to upload all of the scans listed above in the three sections provided. You can choose your chosen Indonesian consulate or embassy abroad during this process, where you (the foreigner) will fly to collect the visa.

4. After the application has been submitted online with all the documents, you should receive an email the same day (if you submitted your application in the middle of the night/early morning), or the next day (if you submitted afternoon), inviting you to come to South Jakarta immigration to pay the sum of 100,000 rupiah. This can NOT be done online. But you do not have to go in person, you can grant power of attorney to someone.
Download power of attorney here: https://goo.gl/EpZxnK Power of attorney must be fixed with materai 6ribu at middle bottom, such that both signatures spread onto the materai (left and right side)
Either way, the email will tell you to bring a handful of documents to Jakarta. Ignore this and bring photocopies of ALL of the documents above (a to i), with the exception that you can just bring the passport data page, not the whole book. In addition, the documents which you signed and affixed with materai should all be the originals. The documents need to be in a GREEN folder, otherwise you will be told to go away. To send the documents to Jakarta you can use the Indonesian post office, or Tiki service tiki.id. Bear in mind that whatever service you use will arrive too late for same day trip to immigration, so you must go the next day. In addition, Indonesian civil servants don't do much work on Fridays, so if you submit on Friday then you probably can wait too. If you are in a hurry you can post the documents to your Jakarta contact immediately upon online submission.

5. After payment, your application MIGHT be completed the same afternoon but then it could take several days. Approval should arrive to your sponsor's email, but you can check the application status online at http://visa.imigrasi.go.id using the application number from the email you received when you submitted the document. If it shows as complete, and you haven't received an email, then send an email to [email protected] with the relevant reference numbers and they should send you the form within 24 hours - do not wait, email as soon as it shows complete online.

7. After the visa is approved, you can fly to your appointed foreign Indonesian consulate/embassy - note that it will be closed on all Indonesian and foreign holidays, and will be very busy the day after, and probably on Mondays. Visa submission will typically be in the morning, and collection the next day, so plan accordingly.

Requirements in Penang:

1 * 3x4 passport photo any background
1 * print out of approval email from immigration in jakarta
1 * filled out application form, only available in the office, bring your own black pen
1 * photocopy of passport data page (other pages NOT required) - free photocopying available in back, but to save time bring your own photocopy
395 MYR cash visa fee
Submission from 9:30am till lunch time ish (sorry not sure the exact time)
Collection NEXT working day (not same day) after 2pm (so don't apply on a Friday! or the day before a holiday)
Not required, but may be asked for in other locations, so you might as well bring them:
* all the documents above such as marriage certificates etc.
* letter to consulate from spouse sponsoring visa

8. After visa is entered into passport, fly back to Indonesia and make immediate report at https://goo.gl/Jxk7Xc
You get an email telling you to visit the relevant local immigration office.

In order to go there you must bring all your documents again. In addition, you will ALSO need to bring a Surat Domisili from Kepala Desa.
You will also have to fill in several forms:

* KITAS application form, there was a section to be signed by 'kuasa' (power of attorney) - my wife signed this, it wasn't clear if that was correct, but no complaints
* Foreigner new data form, again with signature by spouse.
* One photo (6x4, red background although they said it doesn’t matter)
* Surat jaminan from the local office (similar to the one above), signed by your spouse with materai 6,000 RP

After you have filled these forms in, they tell you to come back in two days at a specific time to have fingerprints and photos. This could be done immediately, but probably they make you wait, as they want you to use an agent for the ‘express’ service.

You must also pay 2.055m IDR
* KITAS 1 year (electronic only) 1m IDR.
* IMK 1 year (re-entry permit) 1mIDR.
* Information Technology fee (not sure if this is national) 55k IDR

So you come back after two days and they take your photo & fingerprints (in the email from Jakarta they said 'interview', but I had none), and then they tell you to come back again in two more days to collect the passport and KITAS card. In my case, I sent someone to pick up my passport. They called me and were not happy about this and said 'don't do it again, passport is serious business'. But they still gave it out.

Note: Indonesian bureaucrats are NOT there to make your life easy. Bear in mind

* arrive before 11am
* no shorts/no flipflops etc
* you should have ALL of the required documents to avoid a bad time. If you don't have them now then expect to need them in the future so best just to suck it up and organise ALL the required paperwork, so you can just smile sweetly and hand over everything the bureacurat demands to make your life difficult.

Total cost guide (minimum!):

* 0.1m IDR Jakarta online fee
* ~0.3m for someone to process the payment for you in Jakarta
* 2.055m for KITAS/IMK/IT fee
* 1.25m (approx) visa fee in Penang
* 0.1m various costs of photocopying, scanning, posting, etc.
* 1.7m return ticket to Penang with transport to and from airports
* 0.3m accommodation Penang
* .15m transport to Penang consulate
* 0.3m IDR three trips to local imigrasi

So total is around 6-6.5m IDR for everything, if you are already in Indonesia. And minimum time:

Mon - submit application, post documents to contact in Jakarta
Tue - documents arrive in Jakarta
Wed - payment is made in Jakarta by your contact
Fri - decision arrives from Jakarta
Sun- fly to Penang
Mon - apply in Penang
Tue - get visa in Penang, fly back to Indonesia
Wed - get Surat Keterangan Domisili from kepala desa
Thur - go to imigrasi with docs
Mon - go back for photos
Wed - collect passport & KITAS

So the time frame - minimum - is 2.5 weeks. And you need 3 days in Penang, and 3 days in your local imigrasi, more or less. Note that the expiry date of your KITAS seems to be the date of your entry on the ITAS visa, NOT the date when you actually receive it (which could be up to a maximum of 4 weeks later if you delay things - but no more, as you have only a 30-day entry permit initially)

If you are NOT already in Indonesia then you may not need to fly to an embassy, so can save money that way.

Starting Oct 26 there will also be the option to convert social visa to KITAS online, as well as online KITAS extension.

How can you apply for a VITAS if you are not married to an Indonesian citizen?

The VITAS is just a stepping-stone to the KITAS; the basic process is on our website; look at the other articles as well (on your left) as appropriate to your circumstances.

There are several avenues (besides being sponsored by an Indonesian spouse) to getting a KITAS or other stay visa:

1) A company that is lawfully employing a foreigner obtains the KITAS and IMTA (work permit) for the employee.

2) The dependent of a foreigner who holds a KITAS/IMTA can hold a dependent KITAS.

3) You can get a retirement visa.

4) You can get a sosial budaya visa (not a KITAS, but another form of stay visa) if you have an Indonesian sponsor.

Your specific follow-up questions will probably depend on what path you are hoping to take.

Ok. And do you also know how you can get a KITAS under a foundation? I think it's a different process again...

Ok. And do you also know how you can get a KITAS under a foundation? I think it's a different process again...

If you work for the foundation as an employee, it is more or less the same process as any work visa.

If you want to become an officer of the foundation, you can only do so if you already have KITAS and IMTA from somewhere else, according to Peraturan Pemerintah 63 2008.

http://www.hukumonline.com/pusatdata/detail/28370/node/1019/peraturan-pemerintah-nomor-63-tahun-2008

Starting or founding a foundation does not grant a KITAS as far as I am aware.

Thank you very much for your answer. Do you happen to know how much it costs to get KITAS under a yayasan for an employee?

Off the top of my head: KITAS + MERP about Rp 2 million, then USD 1200 for the yearly expat employee tax.

Add on agent fees if you use one.
