    Trumponomics

In the short term, he's getting what he wants. In the long term, I believe he will lose badly - as will the US population. Countries were moving away from USD after Biden froze Russia's money (stole it?), but Trump is upsetting friend and foe. I see China jumping in as and when they can, pushing...

    Trumponomics

A pattern is emerging. Trump threatens tariffs and or invasions, then the victim country caves and not much happens. Trump, love him or hate him, has been successful in quite a lot. However, bullies tend to come crashing down sooner or later.

AI Businesses Impacted by DeepSeek AI

Quite a few people dislike the US, and that number is likely to increase quickly. With threats to take over the Panama canal and wild tariffs, Trump might well make America grate again. That's politics - something we prefer to ignore, but still sneaks up on us and bites. I use AI a little, but...

AI Businesses Impacted by DeepSeek AI

Forgive me not taking your word on the above, but I like to know. First up, Deepseek is chat.deepseek. I would guess that's to fish for Chat's user base. I questioned both about Tiananmen and Taiwan. DS gave me very guarded answers with little real information, but Chat opened up with...

    EV in Indonesia

Time, gentlemen, please The sceptics are all talking about today's issues, while the fans are talking about how great everything is. Reality says EV cars are too expensive and still suffer from a lot of problems, but electric bikes are getting to be pretty much usable . The only things that are...

Jakarta Japanese School seeks native speaker English teacher

I apologise for asking, but this job seems to come up a lot. Is it my imagination, or do you go through a lot of teachers? If so, why? On the bright side, I've seen your school and it looks great.

Indonesian police involved in 31 extrajudicial killings so far in 2024 ?

Let's look at both sides. The police were accused of violence during the new law protests a few years ago. This link shows a violent crowd throwing bricks at the police. Did Amnesty international call them out for excessive violence? I took a while to read up a few stories over my Sunday morning...

Indonesian police involved in 31 extrajudicial killings so far in 2024 ?

To the topic. What we still don't have is any solid evidence. Until someone comes up with that, the conversation is moot. Who did what to whom, and when did it happen? If we don't know, we can't offer serious comments.

Edited to remove a pre-coffee misread

Indonesian police involved in 31 extrajudicial killings so far in 2024 ?

Perhaps, but the most vocal human rights groups are pretty hard left. At the end of the day, nobody has supplied any evidence to the general public. Until they do, we have to assume it's just a rant.

Indonesian police involved in 31 extrajudicial killings so far in 2024 ?

Just as the left wingers like to claim there are abuses, possible abusers tend to deny any knowledge. To decide, we should have verifiable information. Without that, it's a bootless accusation.

Indonesian police involved in 31 extrajudicial killings so far in 2024 ?

Sorry. Human rights are more commonly claimed by the left before they ignore them. Is that better?

Indonesian police involved in 31 extrajudicial killings so far in 2024 ?

Do you have a list of the dead? The group pushing the complaints is very political and very left wing. That in mind, I don't trust their 'facts'.

    Indonesian Electric Bike Laws Inquiry

I took your advice and bought a bicycle helmet that covers more of my head than those crown type ones do. A quick internet search and a short chat with a bunch of people outside the bicycle shop decided the type. It's not as good as a motorcycle helmet, but it should be ok for the sort of...

    EV in Indonesia

True, but it isn't generally very cold in the tropics. This is the same as using veggie oil in diesel engines. It clogs up your injectors if you live in a cold country, but it's fine when the weather is warmer.
